Eight candidates to contest the Lyne by-election
A total of eight (8) candidates have nominated to run in the by-election in the electoral division of Lyne, the Divisional Returning Officer, Ms Vicki Holman announced today.
The candidates were officially declared at a public event held by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) at 12 noon today.
A total of nine candidates ran in the Lyne electorate at the 2007 federal election.
Ms Holman said that the secure printing of ballot papers would now begin and early voting would begin on 18 August 2008.
Election day for the Lyne House of Representatives by-election is Saturday, 6 September 2008. Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over and enrolled in the division of Lyne.
